Anria Galang Espiritu, 26 years old, was reportedly killed after an unidentified suspects allegedly raped her in a certain village in Calumpit, Bulacan. The initial investigation conducted by Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) officials showed evidences of the brutal killing of the victim. (Scroll down for the latest update)
On August 14, 2014, the family of Anria Espiritu became worried when she failed to return home the night before the incident. She was last seen wearing a t-shirt with a gray skirt and blue necklace. All of them were shocked when they heard a news involving a dead woman floating in the rice field in Calumpit, Bulacan around 10.a.m.
When the police investigators arrived the crime scene, they immediately found a screwdriver near the victim and a long chain as well. When they retrieved the body of the dead woman, she was no longer wearing her underwear. However, her panty was recovered near the crime scene.
In a report published by SOCO, Anria Galang Espiritu sustained critical wounds on her neck. She also sustained severe stab wounds on her nape which could be the reason of her immediate death. SOCO also mentioned that the suspects could be under the influence of prohibited drugs when they raped and killed Anria in the village in Calumpit.
As of writing, the local authorities are still continuing their investigation and are still looking for additional clues that would help identify the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the Facebook account of Anria “Anne” Galang Espiritu shows that she was an employee at United Pulp and Paper Co. and was working as an HR Officer. Anria graduated from AMA University. She notably has 5000 followers in the social networking site.
Her family is currently seeking justice of her death. A Facebook fanpage was created and important information were added to it including the location of her wake in Calumpit, Bulacan.
Rest in peace and condolences to the family of Anria “Anne” Galang Espiritu. We hope you will receive justice. We also hope that the police will double their efforts in hunting the suspects of this rape-slay incident.
UPDATE: Various news local outlets cited three (3) men reportedly arrested by the police including a jeepney driver identified as Elmer Joson, 45 yesrs old, who even dared to attend the wake of Anria. However, the driver may no longer face possible charges due to lack of evidence against him. Joson maybe released if there will be no strong evidence that can be presented in 36 hours. The driver was purportedly tagged as one of the suspects when an eyewitness mentioned him as part of the group who raped Anria but later the said witness backed out and decided to withdraw his testimony.
