OFW Joselito Zapanta, for execution if blood money is left unpaid today
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Joselito Zapanta will be scheduled for execution if the Php44 million blood money will not be paid on March 12, 2013.
The Philippine officials, headed by Vice President Jejomar Binay, are exhausting all possible efforts to push back the deadline for the blood money payment.
The Vice President has been active in asking the public to help raise funds for Joselito Zapanta in recent months but failed to accumulate such monumental value.
Binay said that the Philippine embassy officials in Jeddah have made appeals to Saudi authorities and to the family of the Sudanese national who was killed by Zapanta in 2009.
Both President Benigno Aquino III and Binay also appealed to Saudi King Abdullah for his intervention.
