Maria Kang's Sexy Facebook Photo draws online rage, fat shaming, bully hot mom
A controversial ab-revealing photo, which was posted over a year ago, shows Maria Kang with her three kids ages three years and under, below the caption "What's your excuse?"
The 32-year-old mom irked thousands of netizens after an aspirational photo she posted on Facebook went viral. While others shared their compliments, some people have taken offense to it and accused Maria Kang of 'fat shaming'. Her sexy Facebook photo also prompted several working moms to email her to convey their message of disappointments.
"I don't feel this motivates people all that much, it's sorta just a prideful brag thrown onto Facebook in front of many women's faces just to tease and mock them," a commenter on Facebook said.
Maria Kang, a model and fitness enthusiast, earlier said the image was supposed to inspire others to stay healthy. "I felt that if others can overcome incredible challenges to be in shape, why would my story be any different?" Kang explained on her blog site.
On September 25, she also posted a message on Facebook in response to her haters.
"I won't go into details that I struggled with my genetics, had an eating disorder, work full time owning two business' [SIC], have no nanny, am not naturally skinny and do not work as a personal trainer. I won't even mention how I didn't give into cravings for ice cream, french fries or chocolate while pregnant or use my growing belly as an excuse to be inactive."
"What I WILL say is this. What you interpret is not MY fault. It's Yours. The first step in owning your life, your body and your destiny is to OWN the thoughts that come out of your own head. I didn't create them. You created them. So if you want to continue 'hating' this image, get used to hating many other things for the rest of your life. You can either blame, complain or obtain a new level of thought by challenging the negative words that come out of your own brain."
"With that said, obesity and those who struggle with health-related diseases is literally a 'bigger' issue than this photo. Maybe it's time we stop tip-toeing around people's feelings and get to the point."
NON-APOLOGY STATEMENT on Facebook
"I issued a non-apology on my Facebook page because I am not a bully. I just wanted to show others that it could be done,” she pointed out.
She concluded, “Your body is all you’ve got. You have to take care of it.”
