Highlights of Manny Pacquiao vs. Brandon Rios Fight
The 12 rounds of heavy boxing between Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao and Brandon Rios ended up in favor of the Filipino fighter. Pacquiao dominated from the opening round until the last round at the Cotai Arena in Macau on Sunday. The Filipino fighter showed off some remarkable highlights right after the first ring of the bell.
At the opening round, Pacquiao connected a straight left jab followed by a series of combinations leading to an early knock down of Rios. The american fighter managed to get up and was able to connect several body punches to Manny Pacquiao. But the Filipino superstar was able to counter those punches with a flush on Rios' face. Brandon simply shook his head to Manny.
Pacquiao opened the second round with a straight left and again landing a couple of combinations. Rios tried to make counter punches but Pacquiao penetrated through the guard of Rios and continued to unload punches to his body. Before the round ended, Pacquiao again connected a straight punch on Rios' face.
Brandon Rios became more aggressive on succeeding rounds but Pacquiao was just ducking away and continued to successfully connect heavy punches to Brandon Rios. The american fighter was too slow against Pacquiao. On the sixth round, Rios was warned for a low blow. Following a series of combinations from Pacquiao, Rios got a cut on his left eye. On the 7th round, Brandon seemed tired and he clinched to Pacquiao when he received multiple punches. Rios had his right eye swelling on the same round.
Manny Pacquiao continued to get in and out while leaving successful combinations to the body or to the bloody eyes of Rios. Brandon wasn't able to recover the multiple punches he received from Manny and his battered face was conspicous at the end of the 12th round.
Judges scored the bout 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 in favor of the Filipino superstar, who was awarded the WBO international welterweight crown. Pacquiao improved his record to 55 victories, five losses and two draws.
