Jessica Cox, Armless Fil-Am motivational speaker vowed to Help Typhoon Yolanda survivors
As the aid from the international community continues to pour in the disaster-strickened Visayas, an armless Fil-Am has also announced her intention to help the typhoon Yolanda survivors.
Jessica Cox, the world's first licensed armless pilot, as well as the first armless black-belt in the American Taekwondo Association, vowed to help raise additional funds for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda, especially those with disability.
“I do want to help the disabled the best way I can and the best thing to do right now is to get the word out that we are collecting funds because Handicap International is on the ground now working to help all those victims,” Cox said.
In the report of ANC news, Jessica said that her family and relatives in the town of Mercedes in the municipality of Guiuan, Eastern Samar were not spared from super typhoon and her great-aunt was among the thousands who lost their lives.
“Unfortunately, one of my great-aunts was drowned. She was going down to the first floor and she drowned unfortunately, so it hits close to home,” she said.
The 30-year-old armless pinay also narrated that she has been in Samar numerous times but she has the feeling that she would no longer recognize the place due to the massive devastations caused by typhoon Yolanda.
The motivational speaker also highlighted "the resilience and the capability of Filipinos to pull themselves up" in times of trouble. Cox said she is very proud to see Yolanda survivors recover and she wants to let the Filipino community know that her heart is with them.
Jessica Cox together with other Filipino volunteers is doing fund raising campaigns in the US and she will visit Eastern Samar in March 2014.
