Nun Unaware of her Pregnancy Gives Birth to a Baby boy in Italy
A woman, who was unaware of her pregnancy, gave birth to a baby boy. The strange news has drawn international attention when researchers found out that the woman is actually a nun from Italy.
The 31-year-old woman was reportedly rushed to a local hospital after she complained of severe abdominal cramps on Wednesday. A few hours later, the nun gave birth to a baby boy, who weighs 3.5 kilograms (nine pounds). The hospital immediately collected donations and clothes for the mother and her child.
Local media reported that the woman denied the allegation that she kept her pregnancy. She thought that she had stomach cramps that's why she was taken to a hospital through an ambulance for immediate and proper medical assistance. The nun reiterated that she was totally unaware and had no idea that she was pregnant.

"I did not know I was pregnant. I only felt a stomach pain," said the mother, who is originally from El Salvador.
The nun named her baby, Francesco, after Pope St. Francis of Assisi. Reports said she would personally take care the baby boy.
Her fellow nuns were "very surprised" according to local media. The discovery of her pregnancy also embarrassed the Catholic Church in Italy with local bishops purportedly asked the woman to leave her convent in Rieti, after breaking her vow of chastity.
"It would be preferable that she now lead a secular life with her baby, away from religious institutions," said Rieti Bishop Delio Lucarelli.
On the other hand, the mayor of the small city of 47,700 inhabitants, Simone Petrangeli, appealed to the public and journalists to respect the mother's privacy.
The nun, whose name remains undisclosed to the media, belongs to the "Little Disciples of Jesus" convent in Campomoro near Rieti, which manages an old people's nursing home.
