What if, your whole life you know you’re a guy and later in your life, you discovered you’re a girl? You would probably realize that you’re living your life in lies.

A 44-year-old Chinese man, only identified as Mr. Chen, went to his doctor complaining about stomach cramps and blood in his urine. Chen, from the Zheijang Province, is married with his wife for 10 years and even admits that he has an active sex life. However, a shocking news came out when the result of the tests showed that he’s having a menstruation and he is actually a woman.

According to reports, Chen sensed something odd when started feeling exhausted and developed swollen face and legs. He knew it was serious when he saw blood in his urine. So he decided to consult his doctor, and they were all surprised to discover that he has a uterus and ovaries. Further examinations revealed that Chen has a pair of XX chromosomes making him genetically a woman. The doctors also observed that he didn’t have an Adam’s apple or any facial hair and that his genitals is far from different from a normal one(deformed) giving the doctors doubts about his active sex life. Also according to the medical practiotioners, he was wearing guy’s clothes with short hair that he actually looked like a real man.

The medical team discovered that Chen is currently suffering from Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, a genetic disease that causes the adrenal glands to swell due to decrease in stress hormones and an increase in male hormones that caused the lump in his adrenal glands. The doctors also confirmed that it is already too late for Chen to seek medical help due to his age.

They still haven’t concluded yet whether he is a hermaphrodite, a person possessing both male and female organs, or an intersex, a condition which neither classifies a person as a male or a female.

Isn’t it too weird that he only realized it after 44 years in existence with 10 years of married life? There could have been signs that he overlooked that could have solve his problem earlier.
