Victoria Court Owner Killed in Helicopter Crash in Batangas
Batangas, Philippines – The owner of the famous Victoria Court motel died after his helicopter crashed in the densely forested area in Batangas. The air crash investigation team from Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) also declared another fatality on Sunday afternoon.
The Victoria Court owner “Archimedes “Archie” King", who died in the helicopter crash, reportedly boarded his own chopper with registry number RP-C2726. The pilot, Capt. Felicisimo Taborlupa, was also declared dead on the spot.
Tropical storm “Egay” did not directly hit Metro Manila causing King, his wife, and their friends to travel back to Manila from Puerto Galera. While their chopper hovered on the foggy mountains of Batangas, it suddenly disappeared and crashed in the forested area of the province.
Around 12:45p.m. Barangay Captain Celistino Arguna called the Batangas police to inform the authorities regarding the chopper crash in Mount Maculot. They immediately conducted a rescue operation and retrieved the dead bodies of King and the pilot of the helicopter. According to the Barangay officials, aside from the foggy situation, a heavy rain was also observed on Sunday afternoon which could have caused the crash.
The remains of the Victoria Court owner who died in the helicopter crash in Batangas is currently at the Heritage Park in Taguig.
Meanwhile, Lingling King, the motel chain owner’s wife; designer Tina Ocampo and her husband Rico Ocampo; Philippine Tatler editor-in-chief Anton San Diego; and Standard Insurance president Patricia Chilip and her husband, Christopher Chilip were transported to St. Luke’s in Manila for proper medical treatment.
