CSU Students Forced to Attend TSONA of VP Binay
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda uploaded a very controversial photo on Twitter showing a memo requiring students to attend an assembly on August 3, 2015 which turned out to be the TSONA of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The spokesman raised a flag over the alleged forced attendance of Cavite State University(CSU) college students as reflected in the “misleading” student assembly memo that was spread inside the campus on July 30, 2015. Lacierda stressed that Pres. Divinia Chavez of CSU should thoroughly explain the ambiguity of the directive requiring all third year and fourth year students to attend the assembly/TSONA of VP Binay. The post of Lacierda reads;
“Pres. Divinia Chavez of Cavite State University should perhaps explain why students were required 2 attend VP’s TSONA”
In response to the Twitter post, Joey Salgado, head of media affairs of the Office of the Vice President, released a statement to defend their camp. The spokesman of VP Binay said the administration is clearly demonstrating their power to harass the voters in the coming national election.
Binay’s camp added, “Paalala namin sa Palasyo, tayo ay nasa demokrasya. Hindi dapat nila sinusupil ang malayang palitan ng opinyon lalo na sa ating mga paaralan." The camp of the Vice President are challenging the administration to answer the questions raised by Binay when he delivered his “True SONA” in Cavite.
Lacierda responded to the posts of Salgado on social media. The Presidential spokesman said, “Mr. Salgado, pasensya na po, hindi po mangmang ang mga tao, at mawalang galang na po, palpak na nga po ang TSONA ni VP Binay, palpak na naman ang katwiran ninyo.”
Meanwhile, it’s not yet known if how many CSU students were “forced” to attend the assembly and TSONA of VP Binay. One thing’s clear though, the photo uploaded by Lacierda appears to be authentic and the texts in it were not digitally edited.
