Doctor from Cebu Offers Free Service to his Favorite Teacher
An orthopedic doctor from Cebu provided free service and deferred his professional fee to his teacher during his high school years. The medical practitioner mentioned that it was already "paid 22 years ago".
Here's the photo of the receipt that was handed over to the patient when she checked out from the hospital in Lahug, Cebu.
The heartwarming note of *Dr. Dilbert Monicit was included in the official receipt of Perpetual Succour Hospital dated December 8, 2015. The 64-year-old patient Virgie Roble was not charged by the Cebuano surgeon for the services he gave to the ailing high school teacher.
The early Christmas gift of Dr. Monicit to his high school mentor is a clear proof that the Filipino values are still alive amongst us.
There are some negative comments we've seen online related to this act of charity but we should not stereotype all doctors. One of the comments reads;
"Nilibre nga niya si Mam Virgie pero siguradong babawiin niya yan sa ibang pasesyente. Ganyan naman lahat ng mga doctors dito sa Pilipinas eh, sobrang unfair sa ibang pasyente!"
Though some of us could have encountered bad experiences to other medical practitioners, it won't be fair to believe that all of the doctors in the Philippines are doing the same wrong actions.
*Dr. Dilbert Monicit offers health services in Cebu city. His medical office is at My Health Clinic at Robinsons Cybergate Mall, Don Mariano Cui Street, Fuente Osmena.
