UPLB Student Stephen Villena Receives Death Threats Due to his Arrogance to Duterte
The University of the Philippines(UPLB) student Stephen Villena allegedly received tons of death threats online after he "arrogantly" treated Mayor Rodrigo Duterte during an open forum held at the campus last week.
A certain online article cited bullying incidents to Stephen. In one particular meme, it has a message that reads, "Stephen Villena 2001-2016 I was killed because I am ID!OT and STUP!D". This is just one of the results to Stephen's "arrogance" to Duterte particularly to how he demanded the Mayor to provide him a direct answer to his question.
What was the grave offense committed by Stephen Villena?
From our own assessment, we found one major error that the student should have not said during the forum. It's totally fine to request for a straight and direct answer from the Mayor but obviously it's not acceptable to tell Duterte to answer the question right away so "he could go home".
Why the hell in the world would you ask a visitor to answer your question so he can leave the venue and go home? Villena might have wrongly phrased it but he definitely committed an "unforgivable" demand to Duterte.
Though we are not in favor to the action of the teenager, we also don't support bullies to attack the student. Just to be fairly honest to everyone, we didn't like the statements of Villena but due to the advice of the owner of this site(who also came from UP) we would remain partial and won't promote hate campaigns nor issue similar death threats against Stephen.
Here's the controversial video showing the arrogance of the UPLB student to Presidential candidate Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
In the open letter Stephen has posted on Facebook, he argued and claimed that he was "simply posing an academic question".
