Marju Gabiligno : SPi Global Women's Volleyball Team Captain

In the most crucial moment...
when you need someone to lead...
when you need someone to fill in the missing piece of the puzzle...
a person who shows no retreat no surrender...
a person full of courage, patience and perseverance...
determination, strong dedication, and motivation to keep things going...
always all out trying to conquer what mind can do even the body can't...
a person who defies all challenges with meekness...
a team always need a reliable team captain who demonstrates and manifests the lion heart...
These are just some of the traits of the SPi Global women's volleyball team captain - Marju Gabiligno a.k.a Ju.

So I grabbed one of her photos from facebook.

I've been watching the women's volleyball games in the 4th Call Center Olympics (COLympics) since April 15, 2012. A bunch of ladies demonstrated unparalleled prowess in playing the game. However, there are only few players who caught my attention-one of them is Marju Gabiligno.

Marju's team is composed of not so tall volleyball players and when they stand next to their opponents it looks like to be David andGoliath. But that didn't establish a single fear and she even made her team into the semis.

Let's rewind back and find out how she made it to the top. During the elimination round, they only had one loss out of their eight (8) games. What made SPi Global that strong?

Marju Gabiligno is the person behind those achievements.

I guess all of you want the details on how she brought her team into the semi-final round. And at this point, maybe some of you are already expecting a super-hero like attributes and skills of Marju. Well, honestly she manifests a super-hero-like traits.

So, let's bring it on.

One of the greatest assests of Marju Gabiligno is her skill in motivating people. I saw how viral it went when she motivated her teammates during the games in the elimination round. She encouraged one or two and in return those players encouraged another one and so on. She has an excellent power of influencing people.

Second is Marju's manifestation of sincerity when talking to her teammates. Words of encouragement are common from team captains in various games but you can only count a few of those team captains who really said it with sincerity. How do I know if Marju was sincere? Simple, the effects were positive and read the next item.

Marju never blame her teammates-not even a single one. I watched the game closely and listened how SPi Global key players communicated among each other. This instance didn't happen once, twice, but many times. So, I can guarantee that what I saw on the court and during their breaks in between sets were true.

She demonstrated her faith and trust to her teammates. Not all of her players are reliable but she never lose faith and she even let weak and not so good players to enter the court. If you were one of the spectators you can't really stop asking yourself why would she need to replace her strong key player and have a weak replacement play some 5-10 minutes of the game. It was not just a simple strategy. The next item is the major reason that I was able to observe.

 Marju Gabiligno wants her players to enjoy the game and to be part of it. A lot of other teams didn't have the guts to rotate their players. Other teams have deep bench players but remained sitted. So, why Marju made unpredicted player rotations to happen in her team? Another simple answer,

She wants her teammates to have fun!
