That's my Tambay of Eat Bulaga Faces That's my Tomboy of It's Showtime
Eat Bulaga once had a very successful contest called "That's my boy", which featured talented boys aged seven and below. And now, the long-running noontime show is set to launch a new contest called "That's My Tambay," which aims to compete a similar talent showcase for lesbians on the rival noontime program, "It's Showtime."
During a live telecast on October 30, Joey de Leon officially announced that Eat Bulaga will have a new contest called "That's my Tambay'.
"Mga kaibigan, may bago tayong contest. Bibigyan natin ng pansin ang mga tambay -- ang title: 'That's My Tambay'. Tandaan niyo, maraming nag-ga-graduate ng tambay, so 'yun ang bibigyan natin ng pansin, at ang mga premyo nito, matindi. Pabibigyan natin ng trabaho, pag-aaralin natin, o kaya may training, mga kaibigan," de Leon said. Joey mentioned that the new segment will air this week.
The announcement of TAPE's (Television And Production Exponents Inc. ) new segment was also reported by the news website of GMA-7.
The Filipino slang "tambay" comes from the English phrase "stand by." It largely refers to those who are unproductive or are unemployed, as de Leon used the term on Wednesday(ABS-CBN news).
Meanwhile, "That's My Tomboy" segment of "It's Showtime' has consistently topped on the list of trending topics on Twitter. But with the rival network's announcement, a new battle will begin. So, who do you think will draw more viewers? That's my Tomboy or That's my Tambay?
