KC Concepcion plays the role of Dyesebel, hint posted on Instagram
Everyone is quite puzzled if the talent management of ABS-CBN has chosen the gorgeous actress KC Concepcion as the star of its fantasy series "Dyesebel", the love-lorn mermaid created by Pinoy "komiks" novelist Mars Ravelo. Over the last the two days, I've been asking myself of who will be the lucky actress to become the next mermaid.
With no confirmation from ABS-CBN, KC Concepcion was a little bit more open about Dyesebel as seen on her Instagram post.
On Friday, KC Concepcion posted a photo of Disney's red-haired mermaid Ariel with the caption: "Under the sea... Wish I could be... Part of that world (love) mermaid moment."
This post of KC Concepcion made her fans believe that she will play the titular role of "Dyesebel".
Aside from the instagram post, KC Concepcion previously admitted it was her childhood dream to become a mermaid. She made this revelation in her previous guesting on Kris TV.
“One of my childhood dreams talaga was to become a mermaid, kaya napakasaya ko to know na merong ganito na kahit sandal lang, pwede mong matupad ang pangarap mo. Pwede mong balikan ‘yung pagkabata mo at mag-enjoy na para kang nakahanap ng kalaro. And feel na feel ko talaga na sirena ako,” said the actress, who was once part of the local theater run of “The Little Mermaid.”
Meanwhile, a teaser of "Dyesebel" was also released on Monday during the "Primetime Bida" block of ABS-CBN. The clip was only 16 seconds and later it was shared on ABS-CBN's official YouTube channel. The teaser shows coral reef and fish, then later a long-haired mermaid appeared with her back being focused to the camera.
Over 24 hours, the video stirred buzz online. A post linking to the video on ABS-CBN's official Facebook page instantly gained thousands of shares. Comments of netizens include some overwhelming excitement of the upcoming fantasy series.
Dyesebel, who first made a splash in the 1950s as a mermaid shunned by her kind for being born to human parents, was last portrayed by actress Marian Rivera in a GMA-7 series in 2008.
ABS-CBN's adaptation of "Dyesebel" won't be the first time the network is introducing a mermaid character to the Filipino audience. In 2004, "Marina" starring Claudine Barretto started the trend of fantasy series on local TV. This was followed by "Dyosa" starring Anne Curtis in 2008, and "Aryana" starring Ella Cruz in 2012.
On Monday, Dreamscape Entertainment Television publicity head Eric John Salut posted on Instagram a photo of the title card of "Dyesebel" with the ABS-CBN business unit's logo, suggesting it will produce the new series. But it didn't include a photo of the new "Dyesebel", who is now rumored to be KC Concepcion.
Dreamscape is behind the hits "Juan dela Cruz," "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," "Walang Hanggan" and "Honesto," among others. (90-95 percent of the content were taken from ABS-CBN news)
