Flood Sweeps Benie Labios in Isabela, still missing
Isabela -- Due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Labuyo, Cagayan River in Isabela reportedly overflowed and caused a devastating flood in the area. One of the news reporters of TV Patrol witnessed the disaster whose cameraman also captured a woman, who stayed on the roof of a "Nipa Hut" while a raging flood surrounds her.
A woman, identified as Benie Labios, who chose not to evacuate from her home in San Agustin was unfortunately swept and engulfed by the flood. In a video of TV Patrol, Benie was even seen eating while she was sitting on the roof of the nipa hut. At one point, Benie was also seen dancing when suddenly the flood swept her house. She attempted to anchor herself to the floating part of the nipa hut but due to a large drop and raging flood waters, the whole house was engulfed together with Benie.
Many rescuers arrived in the area but they failed to rescue the victim due to the lack of rubber boats and if there was one, rescuers may not be able to navigate to Benie Labios because the flood looks like a Class 6 rapids.
As of press time, Benie Labios is still declared missing.
UPDATE: The body of Benny (Benie) Labio has been recovered on Tuesday evening along the river banks of Barangay Dipangit, according to a report of ABS-CBN news. Also, the remains of the 40-year-old woman were brought to the Cadiz Funeral Homes for autopsy.
