Makati fire 'selfie' Viral Photo
Makati fire 'selfie'
What's cool in posing against the backdrop of a burning building and let someone take a photo of it?
This is the case of an unidentified woman who was photographed the other day while the Makati fire incident was on its peak. Her alledged Makati fire "selfie" photo spread on the internet like a wildfire when Jeff Alagar reposted the photo in Facebook. The woman's "selfie" picture has caused an online outage. Netizens commented that the woman was "insensitive" of the Makati fire victims. Minutes later, several memes of the woman's "selfie" were spread in various social networking sites including the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
In an interview with ABS-CBN news, Alagar admitted that he reposted the photo “out of sudden madness” as he felt bad for the people struggling to save people and possessions as the fire engulfed houses in Makati. As of press time, Jeff Alagar has already taken down the photo from his Facebook account.
Meanwhile, a friend of the woman reportedly uploaded the photo without her consent which triggered some netizens to feel sorry for the woman in the viral photo. They urge internet users to halt the cyberbullying campaign against the woman.
Anyone can be a victim in social media. Hence, DiversityHuman.com suggests that everyone should be careful in making a move especially in public places. We think that we have to remind all of you to be responsible and think twice before you trigger that camera. Lastly, do not upload any photo when its subject is not aware of it. DiversityHuman.com doesn't like to see a repeat case of this viral Makati fire "selfie" photo.
