Sarah Lahbati's Bail for Libel Case
Sarah Lahbati's Bail for Libel Case
19-year-old actress Sarah Lahbati has returned to the Philippines from a 6-month stay in Switzerland. She immediately posted Php 10,000 bail before the Makati City Regional Trial Court on Friday for the libel case that was filed against her by GMA Films president Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar.
"I'm back just to fix things. Bumalik ako para ayusin ang mga dapat ayusin at katulad nga po ng sabi ni attorney (Atty. Maggie Abraham), eh maayos na, wala nang libel case. Sana matapos na to nang maayos, and I'm happy na the first step is done," Lahbati said. Now that Lahbati has arrived, Atty. Abraham received an order that the warrant of arrest has already been recalled and set aside. According to Sarah Lahbati's counsel, they will show their evidence that would prove that she's not really liable for the libel case.
The libel offense is related to a series of posts made by Lahbati on micro-blogging site Twitter about the alleged mishandling of her career by GMA network. The lawyer of Sarah said they already filed a motion to quash the case, or to declare it null or invalid "on the basis that there's no internet libel in the Philippines. There is no crime if there is no law punishing internet libel." -ABS-CBN, GMA news
