BAYO What’s Your Mix?
Apology from BAYO regarding "What’s Your Mix?" ad campaign
Bayo's Vice President, Lyn Agustin issued an apology statement for their campaign "What's your mix?". Here's the full script.
"We, at Bayo, deeply apologize for the message our campaign—“What’s Your Mix?”—has unintentionally conveyed. We would like to express our regrets to those who have been offended or felt discriminated against.
Our company and our partners have always taken pride in being pro-Filipino as we continue to celebrate our uniqueness and achievements. We believe that being a Filipino will always make you 100% beautiful. It is unfortunate that this message got lost along the way.
We thank everyone who has shown support for our thrust of promoting Filipino beauty, talent, and creativity."
Comments:
I don't think that this campaign would hurt much of BAYO's financial generation within this quarter. The way I look at this issue, it seems that this official apology is merely part of their plan prior to the release of their new campaign. I mean this is purely marketing strategy. Just like Bela Padilla's FHM cover in March 2012.
Now, given that this campaign is already pulled out. What now?
BAYO will have a new concept and those ideas will be literally coming from blogs, comments in Facebook, etc. Because the campaign is aligned with what the consumer like then that brings more income to the company.
This is how the world of consumerism works - "making use of negative strategies as assets."
