Head turners in the Corona Impeachment Trial
This is a publication coming from ABS-CBN news page. ABS-CBNnews.com featured the head turners in the Corona impeachment trial.
Surprisingly, many viewers never missed an episode of Corona's trial simply because of the stunning looks of these ladies and men who
also demonstrated their wits and humor during the entire course of the impeachment.
KAREN JIMENO
Put the words "head turner" and "impeachment" together, and Karen Jimeno would be the top-of-mind for most Filipinos.
The fresh-faced lawyer, one of the spokepersons of the defense panel, amassed a following from fans who admired her intellect as well as looks. Asked what keeps her looking fresh, she humbly said: "I don't think I look fresh. I am already starting to feel the stress."
MACEL JIMENEZ
To viewers of the impeachment trial, Macel Jimenez is the eye candy-literally. A lawyer, Jimenez just happened to be the seated behind one of the podiums used by senator-judges when they are addressing the court.
Those glued to their TV screens couldn't help but notice her beautiful eyes, among her other soft features. After netizens turned to Twitter and Facebook to express their adminiration for her, Jimenez became an instant Internet Sensation.
RICHIE RAMOS PILARES
Another lawyer at the impeachment trial who earned a handful of admirers is Richie Ramos-Pilares(left), who served as the counsel of PSBank Katipunan branch manager Annabelle Tiongson. Netizens consider Pilares as one of the prettiest faces in the impeachment proceedings as shown in the "beauty pageant" they started on Twitter, where they pitted her against Jimeno and Jimenez.
CIARA SOTTO
Before being added to the list of head turners in the impeachment proceedings, Ciara Sotto was already a celebrity in her own right with her several shows and albums. Viewers noted that Sotto, daughter of Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, is a welcome addition to the pretty faces in the trial.
CARMEN BASA
She is not only known as one of the members of the Basa family, who are cousins of Cristina Corona, the Chief Justice's wife. After appearing on television during the coverage of the impeachment trial, Carmen basa became a celebrity of sorts among netizens wh said she looked a lot like sexy actress Joyce Jimenez. Others, meanwhile, went as far as saying that she and her siblings look like the Kardashians.
CARLA CORONA CASTILLO
Her name may have been dragged into the controversy, being the daughter of the Chief Justice but Carla Corona-Castillo has attracted a fan base mainly because of her simple and quiet appeal.
The defense did not put her on the witness stand and opted to just present witnesses to testify as to how some properties ended up under her name. She only appeared during the trial when her father took to the stand. She tried to keep a cool demeanor even when tears were threatening to fall down.
RIA CHRISTINA FARIÑAS
Just like Jimenez, Ria Christina Fariñas is another beatufiful woman who happened to sit behind the prosecutors during the impeachment trial.
She is the daughter and chief of staff of Ilocos Norte 1st District Rep. Rudy Fariñas. She was eventually interviewed on the ABS-CBN News Channel after netizens kept on asking who she was.
MIDA MARQUEZ
Despite an effeminate act with a falling microphone back in December, SC Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez remains on the hot list of women and gays. He only appeared several times at the Senate during the 5-month trial, but managed to upstage many of deposed Chief Justice Renato Corona's defense counsels.
MIRO QUIMBO
House prosecution panel spokesman Miro Quimbo has been called a "John Estrad" look-alike, what with brown streaks in his hair and bronzer on his cheeks. Amid a metrosexual appeal that has been apparent since his days in the housing agency, PAG-IBIG, the Marikina congressman undoubtedly became the brightest star of the prosecution. A colegiala even dropped by the Senate during Corona's trial and gave Quimbo a teddy bear and a wine bottle filled with papers stars.
MIRIAM SANTIAGO
When it comes to making heads turn, nobody does it better than Miriam Defenso Santiago. The senator, known for her fierce reactions and pick-up lines, always attracts the most attention as viewers hold on to her every word. Some would even claim that they watch the impeachment trial just to see Santiago's colorful outbursts.
