This is a public announcement that everyone should know especially the ones in Marikina.

Marikina water level at Sto Niño station now at 19.68 meters. Move away from low-lying areas near Marikina river now.

Marikina River water level (Sto Nino station) as of 2:20 am is at 19.55 meters and rising quickly.

The condition now of the Marikina River and will deteriorate further because of heavy rains.

28.14 meters in the Upper Marikina Watershed . Expected to go higher and translate high water levels upstream.

Please wake up now and move away from the low lying areas along Marikina River including Tumana and Provident.

The high water level in the upper Makina River (Montalban St) will translate downstream.

People living along Marikina River, the water level at Upper Marikina River is at 28.14 meters. This is higher than in Aug 6 and 7.

Authorities began the process of forcibly evacuating residents near the Marikina River as its water level rose to 22 meters before dawn Thursday.

 
Residents began packing up their belongings amid calls from officials, including Malacañang and the National Risk Reduction and Management Council, to flee.
 
"Pwersahan na ang taong i-evacuate para iwasan ang sakuna (We have to forcibly evacuate people from their homes to prevent any casualty)," NDRRMC head Benito Ramos said in an interview on dzBB radio.
 
Science Secretary Mario Montejo said that while the heavy rain in past days had stopped, water from watershed areas is starting to go down to Marikina.
 
The Philippine National Police kept watch over the affected area against possible looting, dzBB's Paulo Santos reported.
 
Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said equipment and personnel are in place to anticipate the dramatic rise in the river's water level.
 
"We have to make sure ang pasaway paalisin na (We have to make sure even hardheaded people are evacuated), we cannot ask them for their consent," he said.
 
"Kung inutusan kayo na lumikas, lumikas na kayo (If you are asked to evacuate, please do so)," he added.
 
Lacierda, in posts on his Twitter account, also warned of being carried away by the river flow and debris in the water.
