Nonito Donaire demolished Toshiaki Nishioka with a TKO
Filipino champion Nonito Donaire, 29, defended his world super bantamweight title and scored a TKO victory against Toshiaki Nishioka on Saturday at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, California.
Nishioka who went down with a minute left in the 6th round after being hit with two successive left jabs finally crumbled down with a right hand at 1:54 in the 9th round.

Mark Barriga, the Philippines' lone boxing Olympic bet, came out strong and defeated Italian Manuel Cappai Tuesday in the light flyweight category. His win keeps the country's medal hopes alive.
Mark Barriga, 19, used a strong first round to beat Cappai, 17-7, to advance to the final 16 of the Men’s Light Fly 49 kgs.
Barriga will face Kazakhstan’s Birzhan Zhakypov, who won a close bout against Jeremy Baccu of France with a nail-biting score of 18-17. His fight is set on August 3.
Philipppines continues to thirst for it's first elusive olympic gold medal as Pinay weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, skeet shooter Brian Rosario, and archer rachel Cabral have all been eliminated.

I was searching for some unusual Olympic information and I got something that you should know. Let's try to sneak into the Olympic Village and check the dark side of it.

When people meets new faces, something will definitely ignite their senses. The excitement to know them and the thrill to be with other races who can't speak your own language gives you more interest. This is the typical feeling of any athlete who joins the Olympic event.
Now, to what extent are you going to socialize if you are going to be part of the Olympic squad of the Philippines? I will leave that question to you. My main purpose of this article is to show the dark side of the Olympic Village. (Isn't that obvious? That's the title of my article, LOL)

Nonito Donaire, 29 years old also known as "The Filipino Flash" and currently rated by "The Ring" as the number four pound-for-pound boxer in the world made an overwhelming win againts the taller South African fighter Jeffrey Mathebula. The ringside judges scored the bout 119-108, 118-109, and 117-110 all for the Filipino fighter. Donaire now improved his Professional boxing record to 29 wins with only 1 defeat.
During the first few rounds, Nonito showed control of the fight. On the fourth round he unleased a powerful left hook counter punch and scored a knockdown to Mathebula. However, Mathebula recovered well and got himself into the fight and luckily saved by the bell.
Donaire continued to be aggressive on the remaining rounds and again in the 11th round he made another devastating punch causing Mathebula to spit blood and moments later hung his mouth open with blood flowing. Donaire did well in the final two rounds but unfortunately Donaire failed to end the fight with his money punch.
Nevertheless, it was an uncontested victory of a remarkable talent--Nonito Donaire.
Jeffrey Mathebula dropped his record to 26-4 with 2 draws.
