In a swift and dramatic turn of events, police have arrested two teenage suspects in connection with the brutal murder of 21-year-old UP Manila student Sophia Coquilla, whose lifeless body was found in her bedroom on July 9, bearing 38 stab wounds. The crime scene—her family’s home—revealed grim evidence, including a dumbbell and a grasscutter used as murder weapons.

Fast-Tracked Investigation and Arrest

Just a day after the crime, law enforcement, led by Police Colonel Alexander Serrano, Jr., raided a boarding house in the city early on July 10. The operation, backed by the Davao del Norte Provincial Police and Tagum City Police, resulted in the seizure of Sophia’s stolen belongings:
